Moving from the sunny Okanagan Valley to the Rocky Mountains has taught me a few things: Don’t go outside in a hail storm, expect snow at any time of the year, and never, EVER leave the house without a jacket.
Above all, I’ve learnt that summer in Alberta is short. It usually starts in June with a massive amount of rain, cruises through July and August with sunshine and comfortable warmth, and then is punctuated by a surprise frost and snowfall in September (this year it happened to come in August). With a schedule like that, you must maximize every opportunity to enjoy shorts and t-shirts. Looking back, I feel pretty happy with all the adventures!
