About a week after my niece, Isla, was born, she was diagnosed with Trisomy 18. We were told that there was a less than 10% chance she would live to see her first birthday. A recent statistic reported that of those who do live to one year, only 5% will see their 5th birthday. Well, this April Isla turned six and we couldn’t have been more proud!! Isla is lucky enough to have the most loving and devoted parents around, providing around the clock care while raising two other children. I love this little girl and thank her for the daily inspiration.
